Snowkiting Expedition in the name of Wind Energy and Climate Change Education

The Education page of the 2XtM (to-cross-the-moon) site has a few good educational resources on Climate Change, and is an overview of the 2008 Snowkiting expedition for change across ND. I will post our actual presentation as it has evolved since power shift 2007 for anyone to use if they like. It seems to be a good motivator to use an extreeme sport to get kids fired up about climate action.

Fundraising with green mission

In line with your Climate Challenge goals, Eco Hatchery provides environementally conscious organizations with a free, ready-to-go fundraising initiative that is ideal for non-profit organizations/sustainability committees. You can offer students, neighbors, family and friends a chance to help prevent global warming while they contribute to your organization at the same time. The Eco Starter Kit helps a typical homeowner reduce their annual utility bill by about $260 and cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2.5 tons per year. The emissions reductions are equivalent to replacing a mid-size sedan with a Prius hybrid! For every Eco Starter Kit sold through your organization, Eco Hatchery will contribute $10 of the Kit's price back to your organization. You can also monitor your group's progress online, using the Carbon Calculator that aggregates your group's footprint and tracks energy savings. Flyer attached.

"A bright, happy sun washes down on anti-death penalty picketers in Austin, Texas, while a soft breeze flows through anti-war Iraq Action Camp. A combination of the sun and wind shines on and blows through the students at the University of Southern California fighting to combat climate change."

Carbondale - "Power plant project canceled"

"Plans to build a coal gasification power plant on campus have been put on hold, university officials said Thursday.
For the project to be feasible, the plant would have to be too big and too expensive to be constructed on campus, said Physical Plant Director Phil Gatton. The announcement came as the university released a "fatal flaws" study that was performed to determine whether the university should further pursue the project."
