Q: How long is the competition?
A: It's a month-long competition, comparing the energy and heating consumption in February 2008 to your school's average energy and heating consumption from February 2005, 2006, and 2007.
Q: Is the competition for dorms only, or for entire schools?
A: The National Campus Energy Challenge is for schools as a whole. However, you may choose to add a school-internal dorm competition for the month if you want. The national competition does not look at single dorms, but you can.
Q: What if most students from my school don't live on campus?
A: You only submit energy bills that are paid for your school, that is, for public buildings and dormitories. You can still participate if only a small portion of students actually live on campus! For more information, see the appendix of the NCEC 2008 manual.
Q: What do I need to do to sign up, and how do I submit my data?
A: Contact your regional coordinator by email and let them know you are interested. You will be asked to submit basic information on your school (type, size, website, etc.) as well as your contact information. You will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your energy data before the competition starts.
Q: Are there prizes?
A: Regional coordinators establish awards for the regional winners. Prizes for the national winners will be announced soon.
