Timeline of the youth activist movement around energy and climate.
2000
- December: US Youth Climate Summit in the Hague, Netherlands
225 college students from around the United States joined a half dozen students from Africa for a summit at COP 6, the sixth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. The summit was organized by Ozone Action and Greenpeace. Students were integral in successfully lobbying to remove nuclear power credits from Kyoto Protocol and organized a series of actions throughout the conference.
2001
- ??: Students won groundbreaking clean energy victories at U Penn, Penn State, Carnegie Melon, CU Boulder, and Connecticut College.
2002
On the heels of an intense campaign led by students and Greenpeace, the Los Angeleso Community College District unanimously voted in favor of the cleanest renewable energy policy set by an academic institution in the United States at the time.
